Will having a minor in japanese language let me become a translator, while I also have a major in nutrition?

It's my goal to major in nutrition/dietics once i go to college. But I would also like to be able to translate as a part time job as well. Would having a minor in Japanese Language allow me to do so? Or would majoring in both be better? Are there courses that teach solely about translating and etc if you major in it?Will having a minor in japanese language let me become a translator, while I also have a major in nutrition?
I don't see why not. I don't think it's a requirement to have a degree in Japanese to be a translator. I think they would hire you based on your ability rather than on your degree.



How many years of Japanese would you be required to take if your minored in it versus if your majored in it? Would you be considered fluent if your minored in Japanese? I think you probably would. At the university I work at, there is a major in Interpretation and Translation Studies.
