Learning a language with an electronic dictionary or translator?

Has anyone successfully mastered a language using an electronic dictionary/translator? Or a language software is better? Please share with me yr experience.Learning a language with an electronic dictionary or translator?
Nothing is impossible, but relying just on an electronic dictionary or translator probably won't help you to master the language. Those dictionaries (I have one myself) doesn't necessary help you understand the grammar or the nuances of the language. Especially with Japanese grammar (I've taken it for a few years). As well, you have no way to participate in a conversation with the dictionary!! :)



I also got some language software, however their aim is mainly to help tourists to get around. Sure, you can learn the basics, but very few software uses voice recognition effectively to have a real life conversation with you (some tried to do). You need to talk to people speaking the language.

No, you must hit the classes and learn the structures of the languages and have person to person conversation. You sometimes get a rough idea on the topic of the subject with a translator but they do not correct for syntax and grammar at all giving a bunch of scattered words that often do not make sense at all.

language software is the best option, i recommend "Rosetta stone" - software in nearly every language with a proven method of teaching.

In regards to online translators, AVOID THEM! they are useless and cannot translate properly, its a machine!!!!
