If you actually become fluent (not just conversational but actually fluent), you can use ASL with any job. If you want to become a doctor... you could be a doctor that works with both Deaf and hearing clients. If you want to be a teacher, you can teach. If you want to work in a bank, you can do that too.
The Deaf community is very connected. If you are competent, culturally sensitive, and knowledgeable of the language... you will get Deaf clients.
HI, I see it's been 2 years since this was posted, but I am curious to where you are in your training? I have a sis that is deaf. I am currently enrolled in college, my goal is to become a therapist or psychologist for deaf people with all issues (menal health as well as drug and alcohol).

What jobs use american sign language besides a translator?Teaching of course. Not just teaching sign language but in teaching kids and adults who are hearing impaired. But yes, translating in any number of situations, not just as a primary job but as something on your resume that makes you even more desirable as a resource at any position.
