What would be the best language to learn to work as a Translator for the F.B.I?

I've got a friend who is interesting in joining the F.B.I. as a Translator. She is wondering what the best language to learn would be, and why?What would be the best language to learn to work as a Translator for the F.B.I?
Well, the FBI generally works with English speaking people...you know within the USA.



I suppose if you wanted to work for the FBI, Spanish, being the largest second language within the US, would be your best bet. They seem to occasionally need to deal with people who communicate better in Spanish.
that is a tough one...i think the key might be to try and stand out. I think knowing at least three languages would be best. seriously. and the more, the better. Think about it; the more foreign languages you know, the bigger the advantage:

a polygot (a person who knows at least three languages fluently), is rare, and the rarer something, the more something seems to be wanted because:

1)flexibility: a polyglot can help in a variety of situations in a variety of ways, giving an advantage to the FBI and saving them money; why pay for three translators speaking different languages when you can hire one who can do the same; it is faster and cheaper (though i suspect because of your friends talent he/she would still get paid handsomely)

if you want to pick a language that would be most advantageous in the Western World, Spanish and French would be most advantageous. With those two languages, (plus English as a native language, i am assuming) you could easily guide the FBI through situations in the western hemisphere, as the vast majority of the people in western hemisphere speak one, two, or all of those languages. If you want to help the FBI from an Eastern Hemisphere perspective, French, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese would be great to learn in my opinion. the political, cultural, and social ties to china and japan are strengthening, and as far as french is concerned, in European, African, and Southeast Asian matters, that would be most helpful, as French is a lingua franca in those respective regions. by the way, i did some research, the FBI also does important work with and for the international community on more than just a small basisWhat would be the best language to learn to work as a Translator for the F.B.I?
I'm sure the FBI alters in languages like the Army does.



Every year we get a list of hot languages we need for translators.



So far, we have Arabic, Mandarin, and Korean as the top three. But Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, German and Farsi are also still up there.What would be the best language to learn to work as a Translator for the F.B.I?
Arabic,they are still hunting terrorism suspects in this country.second choice would be Chinese or Korean due to Atomic weapons in those countries.
