If you know a foreign language, how can you become a translator in that language?

Do you live in the United States? The best way to go about it is to join the American Translators Association, which you can find on http://www.atanet.org/

You'll find all the information you need there about membership, what it requires. To really get started you need this membership. My husband was a professional translator in the United States for 15 years, and before that he was a translator in Denmark for a number of years. Now we're back in Denmark and he's doing something else.

I think now they offer "certification", which means you take a really difficult exam, and if you pass, you are certified.
